What you will bring home

  • Strengthened critical thinking skills and the ability to detect not only misinformation, but also the underlying manipulation that influence many other aspects of our lives and work - both consciously and unconsciously
  • A new analytical approach and deeper understanding of human motivation and sense-making, which can be applied broadly and create value wherever people interact.
  • Small concrete actions or adjustments to improve motivation, collaboration, communication, decision-making, and more

From deception to positive change

Misinformation is often more successful than the truth. Both online and in any other place where people interact.

By exploiting our brain’s way of making sense of the world, misinformation can manipulate and mislead us, damage collaboration, and derail conversations and decision processes.

But for that very reason, misinformation can also teach us a great deal about how to strengthen our critical thinking, increase motivation, and improve collaboration and the quality of our decisions - both at work and at home.

Based on brain research, communication, and manipulation strategies, the first part of the workshop focuses on the manipulative DNA of misinformation through an active hands-on simulation where you work as new employees in a fictional propaganda company.

International research shows that we learn best to recognise and counter misinformation and manipulation by actively working with it ourselves.

In the second part of the workshop, we focus on human motivation and way of understanding the world, which is exploited by misinformation, but can also guide us to small actions or adjustments, that can help us improve motivation, collaboration, communication, and decisions.
